FREETOWN, Sierra Leone, July 25 (UPI) —
A 32-year-old woman infected with the Ebola virus is missing from a hospital in Sierra Leone after her relatives forcibly removed her.
Sierra Leone’s health ministry said the unidentified woman’s family stormed the King Harman Road Hospital and took her away.
A search has been launched for the Freetown resident, who is the first resident of the capital city to test positive for the deadly virus. She is described as a "risk to all."
The public has criticized the government’s handling of the Ebola outbreak, which has killed at least 219 in Sierra Leone and infected 454, including medical staff.
The government announced this week that Dr. Sheikh Uman Khan, who has been actively working to control the deadly outbreak of Ebola in Sierra Leone, has become infected.
His infection is the latest among health workers attempting to treat the infected and prevent further spread of the deadly virus. Sierra Leone’s Awareness Times reported that on Tuesday, "four popular and dedicated health workers attached to Ebola center located inside Kenema Government Hospital have lost their lives …"
