Burger King to keep headquarters in Miami

MIAMI, Aug. 29 (UPI) —

Those employed by Burger King’s headquarters in Miami are breathing easier. The company said it won’t be moving out of Miami for now.

Burger King has been facing backlash on social media since an $11.4 billion dollar deal with Canada’s Tim Hortons was announced on August 26th.

The South Florida Business Journal reports Burger King will be keeping its commitment to the city of Miami, their workers and charities.

In an email, the Beacon Council President & CEO, Larry K. Williams said, "Burger King is a home-grown company that is an important part of the fabric of our community in Miami-Dade County," adding, "We are vigilant in fostering business development and investment and we are confident about Miami-Dade County’s assets. We are a great place to do business globally for large and small corporations."
