General Mills Cuts GMOs From Cheerios

Chicago Tribune: General Mills said it has stopped using genetically modified organisms in its flagship Cheerios breakfast cereal amid growing opposition to the use of such ingredients. The Minneapolis-based company said in a blog post Thursday night that it has already begun using non-GM cornstarch and non-GM sugar in Cheerios. It said its oats, the primary ingredient, is a crop that is not grown from genetically modified seeds. Many activists and critics have cited studies showing that crops containing genetically modified organisms are not safe for people and animals who consume them.
