Dean Apologizes to Vets, Not ‘Right-Wing Nut Jobs,’ for ‘American Sniper’ Remarks

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean apologized for comments he made about the “American Sniper” movie when he was on Friday’s episode of “Real Time With Bill Maher,” where he says only very angry Tea Party types will watch the movie.

Dean said, “Something which I almost have never done in politics,  I apologize to the veterans. I haven’t seen the movie, and I think it was wrong. I make no apologies to the thousands of right-wing nut jobs who have been twittering me, but I do apologize to the veterans. We owe them a lot, and I think this movie was much more nuanced than I thought.”

“The people who tweeted me with lot of bad language, they’re chicken hawks and I have no respect for them. I have a lot of respect for the people who serve this country and I apologize,” he added.
