Dem Rep on FBI Investigation of Clinton Emails: ‘Absolutely, I Think It’s Legitimate’

Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) fielded questions from host Joe Scarborough about the legitimacy of the FBI into Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s email server while she was serving as secretary of state.

According to Schiff insisted there was a distinction, which was the investigation wasn’t of Clinton, but the email server.

“Well first of all, it is not an investigation of Hillary Clinton,” Schiff said. “The investigation by the Justice Department is looking into whether materials were classified at the time, if they were not classified at the time, whether they should have been classified and whether or not any steps were needed to be taken to protect the information.”

When pressed by Scarborough, Schiff conceded the inquiry was “perfectly appropriate.”

“Absolutely, I think it’s legitimate for the Justice Department to look into the proper classification of the information and whether any steps need to be taken to protect it. If it’s out in the ethosphere because of this investigation, that’s perfectly appropriate.”
