Scarborough Rips SNL’s Lorne Michaels — Will ‘Bravely Go After Politicians’ But Not Harvey Weinstein

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough criticized “Saturday Night Live” producer and creator Lorne Michaels for killing any references to Harvey Weinstein, who is under fire for alleged sexual misconduct.

Scarborough noted the MSNBC-NBC affiliation but said he would be a “hypocrite” if he didn’t acknowledge the Weinstein scandal and urged others to do so.

“I know it’s a sacred cow at NBC, but I mean come on,” Scarborough said. “I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t say this. You have Lorne Michaels saying this is a local story? This is a New York story, so he killed all references to Harvey Weinstein on SNL? You know, they bravely go after politicians. ‘Weekend Update’ has turned into an anti-Trump editorial. Good for them. But Lorne Michaels says this is a local story? That’s like saying the Catholic Church scandal was a Central Rome story. People have to stop protecting Harvey Weinstein. If we’re really going to move forward, they have to start saying things that are uncomfortable. And I’m not really sure why it took Harvey Weinstein losing his power for people to start doing that.”
