Report: Dzhokhar Unable to Speak Due to Throat Wound from Possible Suicide Attempt

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the 19-year-old suspected Boston Marathon bomber who was captured alive on Friday, reportedly is unable to speak as he is recovering at a Boston hospital because of a throat wound he may have sustained while trying to kill himself.

According to intelligence sources, “Tsarnaev suffered at least two bullet wounds — including one to his neck — before he was arrested in Watertown,” and the wound to the neck “is very possibly a suicide attempt” because the exit wound is in the back of the neck.

John Miller, a former assistant director at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who is CBS’s national security reporter, “said the neck wound is the primary reason why Tsarnaev is unable to speak with investigators.”
