Poll: Majority of Americans Believe Obama Not Respected on World Stage

A Gallup poll released February 24th shows that a majority of Americans do not believe Obama is respected on the world stage.

According to Gallup, 53 percent of respondents said “leaders of other countries around the world” do not respect Barack Obama. This is a 33 percent increase over the number of respondents who thought he was not respected in 2009.

On the other hand, only 41 percent of respondents believe “leaders of other countries around the world” do respect Barack Obama. This is a 26 percent decrease in the number who saw Obama as respected in 2009.

Among Democratic respondents, 69 percent believed Obama was respected on the world stage. The number was 49 percent among Independents and 21 percent among Republicans.

Regarding disrespect, 28 percent of Democrats believe “leaders of other countries around the world” do not respect Barack Obama while 57 percent of Independents and 77 percent of Republicans believed the same.
