All-Star Teams for Each Power Conference

All-Star Teams for Each Power Conference

Sterling Gibbs eliminated Villanova with this last second shot and never skipped a beat in helping Seton Hall, and the Big East, provide big surprises this season.

The seven high major all-conference teams are listed below, and the Big East’s hot start has it in a better position to stay on this list with the Football Power Five as the American Athletic has lost Louisville to the ACC, fallen behind two mid-major conferences in the rations at www.kenpom.com, and lost their potential top player in Markus Kennedy of SMU.

Gibbs has hit 54 percent of his three-pointers and is ranked in virtually every stat kept by www.kenpom.com–steals, assists, overall shooting, fouls drawn, low turnovers. He scored 40 points against a good Illinois State team that only allowed 66 points to the fast-paced VCU Rams. He is also the only player I can find who has had an overall offensive rating of higher than 100 from www.kenpom.com. He currently has the top Value Add rating in the country at 11.82.

Most of the high major all-conference teams are very balanced with the five players coming from five different teams. The only two exceptions are Cincinnati, which has the two big men on the American Athletic team, and Kentucky just to the South with three of the five All-SEC players.
