Palin: War on Christmas 'Tip of Spear' in Battle to Transform America

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin appeared on Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 with Breitbart News Executive Chairman and host Stephen K. Bannon and said she wrote her new book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas, as a “call to action” to all who want to preserve American exceptionalism, regardless of their religious affiliation.

Bannon called her blockbuster book a “cross between C.S. Lewis and William Jennings Bryan” that is both populist and “a meditation on Judeo-Christian civilization.”

Palin said she had been thinking about the issue since she was a mayor and city manager in Wasilla, Alaska and was threatened with lawsuits if she “allowed” Nativity scenes on public property.

“Why are they so intolerant?” Palin said she thought. “Why are they so thin-skinned that they would take offense to such an innocent and traditional display?”

Palin said in a free America “we have the constitutionally protected freedom to express our faith” and wanted the book to be a “call to action” because the “war on Christmas” is the “tip of the spear” of a larger battle that is brewing that threatens to not only undermine faith in America but fundamentally transform the country.

She said the atheist “scrooges are becoming more and more politically correct” and emboldened before emphasizing that there is “an inherent link between faith and freedom.” She said that the nation’s Founding Fathers like John Adams wrote the constitution for a “moral and religious people.”

She said if that “link is broken,” then “much of America’s foundation is eroded.”

Palin also said she was “not just speaking to Christians” in the book but also to “to those who perhaps have no faith at all” because “they have a right to express their beliefs” in America.

“And if that were ever taken away, then we will go the way of other societies, nations that end up in ruins,” Palin said.

She also criticized the “vocal minority” of elites in New York, Washington, and Hollywood that are eroding the culture and mocking the country’s “traditions and foundations” and do not trust the common man. Palin said she was still grateful that their views were not reflective of the majority of Americans, but acknowledged that they soon could be if Americans did not fight back.

In speaking about her scene in her book about America in 2028 with natural births and in which Santas are crucified, Palin said that could soon be a reality if the “vocal minority” becomes a majority. In fact, everything Palin depicted were ripped from actual headlines from today.

Palin then blasted the “enlightened” elites again for having a zealot-like faith in big government and wanting a “fundamental transformation of America.” She said these “self-proclaimed elites” want to “control our people and businesses,” and America cannot “succumb to these unscrupulous leaders” or it “will be fundamentally transformed into something that we don’t recognize and we don’t want.”

She was also aware of the criticisms these elites are going to throw at her.

“We know what the haters are going to say,” Palin said. “I can write their criticisms for them.”

Palin also said she had Breitbart.com on her laptop and praised Breitbart News for fiercely fighting the same fight for American exceptionalism every day on its pages.

“You guys talk about this so often in your commentaries there on Breitbart about American exceptionalism,” Palin said. “You guys explain to Americans how important it is to understand why we are exceptional.”

Palin said the country is exceptional not because we are “pretending like we’re better than anybody else.” Rather, she said America was exceptional because “we’re different.”

“Our government was to be created unlike any other government… to allow individuals equal opportunity to soar, to succeed, to be rewarded for innovation and work ethic … and all of it is was going to be built on freedom,” Palin said.  She said she fears on “some days we are already on the road toward” decline, and “we will no longer be the America that we recognize.”

“We will be a fundamentally transformed America that so many of us did not sign up for,” Palin warned.

As Breitbart News has reported, her book “is not only a celebration of Christmas but also a reminder that if angry atheists and scrooges can audaciously wage wars on Christmas, then the country’s most sacred freedoms and liberties will not be forever guaranteed unless Americans fight to ensure that they are.”
