Alabama State Rep. Alvin Holmes (D) who said Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is an “Uncle Tom” for being married to a white woman believes men should be allowed to marry mules.
As Yellowhammer News, a go-to site for Alabama politics, noted, Holmes has come under fire recently for making comments about Thomas, interracial adoptions, and black Republicans. And when asked about interracial marriage, he revealed he was in favor of men marrying animals.
“Now, I’m for interracial marriage,” Holmes said on a local radio show, according to Yellowhammer News.
He continued:
I’m for same-sex marriage. I’m the one that introduced the bill to have same-sex marriage. I don’t care who marry [sic] who. If a man meet[s] a little mule and he wanna get married to the little mule, as long as he and the little mule get along all right, that’s fine with me. It doesn’t bother me any kind of way.
Holmes has recently called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas an “Uncle Tom” for marrying a white woman and doubled down on those comments when interviewed by Breitbart News contributor and Sirius XM host David Webb for Fox News’ Hannity show.
Holmes said:
I think Justice Thomas on the United States Supreme Court is an Uncle Tom. A black man allowed himself to be used to carry the message of a white man, which is against the interests of black people in America. In my opinion, that’s an Unlce Tom. In my opinion, Clarence Thomas is a very prolific Uncle Tom.
Holmes has also implied that Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) wasn’t black enough because of his conservative views, then said whites who oppose policies that blacks favor are racists.
“If a white holding those positions votes against the interests of black people, we call them racist. If a black is in a position and votes against the interests of black people, we call him an Uncle Tom.”
He has also said that pro-life whites would make their daughters have an abortion if they were impregnated by a black man, whites do not want to adopt black babies, and whites would be against black people adopting white children.
“Ninety-nine percent of all of the white people in here are going to raise their hand that they are against abortion,” Holmes stated. “On the other hand, ninety-nine percent of the whites who are sitting in here now, if their daughter got pregnant by a black man, they are going to make their daughter have an abortion.”
Yellowhammer News noted that Holmes has also “offered $100,000 to anyone who could show him ‘a bunch of whites’ who had adopted black babies in Alabama.”
After Holmes’ remarks about interracial adoptions, “Faces of Families in Alabama” was created on Facebook, and nearly 13,000 people “liked” the page, as “mixed-raced families from all over the state sent in pictures” in less than three weeks. In addition, “Faces of Families held a rally on the steps of the Alabama State House to prove Holmes wrong once and for all.” Though Holmes, who was invited, did not attend, “multi-racial adoptive families from all across Alabama showed up” to the event.
