Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush reportedly raised more than $4 million at a fundraiser this week in which the cost of admission was a staggering $100,000 per person.

According to the New York Observer, “more than forty contributors” ponied up the $100,000 to Bush’s Right to Rise PAC–and some contributed even more.

The event was reportedly hosted by Henry and Marie-Josée Kravis and guests included Kravis’s KKR private equity colleagues like Ken Mehlman, who served as Republican National Committee Chairman while George W. Bush was president.

The Observer reported that Kravis promised guests that for $100,000, they would have “an opportunity to meet with Jeb in an informal setting and to spend meaningful time learning about his views on the issues facing our country.”

Bush will reportedly try to “shock and awe” his potential competitors by raising at least $100 million before he formally enters the contest.
