President Donald Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un continue communicating after their Singapore summit in June.

The White House confirmed to reporters that Trump received a letter from Kim on August 1.

“The ongoing correspondence between the two leaders is aimed at following up on their meeting in Singapore and advancing the commitments made in the US-DPRK joint statement,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement.

On Wednesday, Trump thanked Kim Jong-un for returning some of the remains of American soldiers from the Korean War after Vice President Mike Pence traveled to Hawaii to receive the remains.

“I am not at all surprised that you took this kind action,” Trump wrote. “Also, thank you for your nice letter – l look forward to seeing you soon!”
