DHS Whistleblower Philip Haney: Questions Currently on K-1 Visa ‘Ineffective’

Department of Homeland Security whistleblower Philip Haney appeared as a guest on Fox News Channel’s “Justice,” and Haney advised that changes be made to the K-1 visa, which is how San Bernardino attacker Tashfeen Malik was able to enter the country.

“Justice” host Judge Jeanine Pirro pointed out a couple of odd questions on the K-1 via application for a terrorist. One asks, “Do you seek to engage in terrorist activities while in the United States?” Another asks, “Have you ever or do you intend to provide money to terrorism groups?”

“These questions are ineffective. The way to really develop a case is to ask people, where are they born, what are their family members’ names, their father, their mother, where did they go to school, what organizations are they part of? That’s how you develop a case. That’s how you do what we call ‘connecting the dots.'”

Haney said that is the formula he used to uncover 300 individuals with possible links to terrorism at the National Targeting Center.
