Plumber Sues Auto Dealer After Truck Ends up in Islamic State Video

According to a report from Atlanta, GA NBC affiliate 11 Alive, a Texas plumber is suing an auto dealer after the truck he sold them ended up in an ISIS video.

A picture showing Mark Oberholtzer’s truck, still showing the business logo and phone number for Mark-1 Plumbing, firing an anti-aircraft weapon went viral last year after the video was released, which is when Oberholtzer said his phone started ringing off the hook. He received death threats and poor reviews on his business’ Yelp page.

He is now suing the auto dealer, AutoNation, for $1 million for selling the truck without removing his business information, despite being told it would be removed, citing loss in future and past revenue, injury to character and reputation and loss of earning capacity.

The lawsuit states that Oberholtzer tried to remove the logo himself, but an employee told him “not to worry about the decal and that peeling the decal off would blemish the vehicle paint.”
