Chaffetz: Congress Should Not Give Flynn Immunity Amid FBI Probe

Friday on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) reacted to a Wall Street Journal report that former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn had offered to be interviewed by the FBI, the House and Senate intelligence committees in exchange for immunity.

Chaffetz told Fox News host Bill Hemmer that the immunity should not be given to Flynn given that there is an investigation by the FBI.

“It’s mysterious to me why all of a sudden General Flynn is out there saying he wants immunity,” Chaffetz said. “A — I don’t think Congress should give him immunity if there’s an open investigation by the FBI. I also don’t believe that the president should be weighing in on this. They’re the ones that actually would prosecute something. I was very critical of President Obama, who weighed in on the IRS scandal before we had all the facts and I don’t think Donald Trump should be weighing in at this point.”
