Sanders: ‘Really Wrong That We Are the Only Major Country’ to Not Guarantee Health Care

During a Thursday interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” 2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) discussed his Medicare for All plan.

Sanders lamented to host Joe Scarborough that the United States is the “only major country on Earth” to not guarantee health care as a “human right.”

“People understand that there is something really wrong that we are the only major country on Earth not to guarantee health care to all people as a human right, that we pay, by far, the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs, that after we bailed out Wall Street 10, 11 years ago, they continue to rip us off,” he told host Joe Scarborough. “People do want a government not controlled by wealthy campaign contributors, but a government that represents all of the people and an economy that works for them — not just the 1%.”

The socialist candidate said that The Washington Post labeling him as one of the winners of the second round of debates suggests his ideas are meeting the needs of the working class of the country.

“I think people are catching on,” he added.
