DeSantis: If Hezbollah Gets More Involved, We’d Support Israel if They Need It, Doubt We’d Need to Be Drawn in

On Monday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s “The Balance,” 2024 Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) stated that if Hezbollah gets more involved in the Israel-Hamas war, Israel can handle Hezbollah and that “we would support them in that if they needed to be, but I don’t anticipate it would be something that would draw the United States in.”

DeSantis said that the U.S. needs to back Israel rhetorically and with action and should continue our current military support for them.

Host Eric Bolling then asked, “So, Hezbollah, on the north, Lebanon, decides to get more involved because they see damage being done to Hamas…is there a moment where the United States says, yes, we’re entering this theater on a more kinetic level?”

DeSantis responded, “I think Israel, they’re capable of handling Hezbollah as well. Hezbollah, they do pack some firepower, but I think this is something that Israel, they’ve got a massive military. They’ve called up all their reserves. I think they would be able to handle it. So, we would support them in that if they needed to be, but I don’t anticipate it would be something that would draw the United States in. I think that we have to be careful about getting enmeshed in a war in the Middle East.”
