The NYPD is investigating a clique of vandals after a metal pipe was thrown through a window of a New York City synagogue, authorities say.
Surveillance footage obtained by Williamsburg News shows seven young men approaching the Volkan synagogue on Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn Saturday at 5:40 p.m. EST. Four of the suspects are seen peering into the shul, before one group member, donning a black sweatshirt, hurls a pipe through the building window.

The event comes after authorities arrested James Polite, a former Democrat activist and intern for New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, in connection to a vandalism of Union Temple in Prospect Heights. The 26-year-old is suspected of scribbling “Die Jew rats, we are here!” and “Hilter” on the synagogue. Further, police are seeking two men believed to have defaced a Brooklyn Heights property last week. Officials on Saturday released photos of the pair who are likely to have been present during the vandalism, say police.

As Breitbart News reported, several swastikas were found drawn on a garage door on Garden Place Wednesday shortly after 9:00 a.m. EST. CNBC producer Sandy Maltzman shared a photo of the vandalism to social media, tweeting: “Today was the day I woke up to swastikas on my beautiful block in Brooklyn Heights. Praying they’re gone before all our children flood the street to celebrate Halloween tonight.”
