Romney Won't Appear on 'SNL' … Yet

For the moment, “Saturday Night Live” regular Jason Sudeikis has the Mitt Romney role all to himself on the NBC sketch series.

The real Romney won’t be appearing on “SNL” this season, according to The show only has three original installments left, but Romney won’t be shoehorned into any of the remaining sketches, according to show creator Lorne Michaels.

“SNL” returns with new episodes in the fall, and the electoral landscape might look much different by then. Michaels isn’t ruling out Romney for an appearance much closer to the November presidential election.

Sudeikis remains the show’s go-to Romney impersonator, and he’s been given a workout by the show’s writers over the last few months as they try to define him in an unpopular fashion. Meanwhile, fellow cast member Fred Armisen, whose Obama impersonation won’t go down in “SNL” history as did Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush or Darrell Hammond’s Bill Clinton, hasn’t been seen much lately.
