‘Pitch Perfect’s’ Rebel Wilson: Lafayette Shooting Shows Need for Australian-Like Gun Ban

On July 24, the day after John Russell Houser allegedly killed two people in a Louisiana Grand Theatre, Pitch Perfect’s Rebel Wilson took to Twitter to announce that America needs to institute an Australian-like gun ban.

Wilson tweeted, “I don’t like getting political but America you really have to follow Australia’s example re gun laws.” She followed that tweet with another: “I don’t remember a mass shooting in Australia since they overhauled the gun laws. It seems like every week in America there’s a shooting.”

Wilson is referencing Australia’s “National Firearms Agreement,” which was passed after Australia’s 1996 Port Arthur attack and which “outlawed automatic and semi-automatic rifles, as well as pump-action shotguns. A nationwide gun buyback scheme also saw more than 640,000 weapons turned in to authorities,” reported NBC News.

Wilson overlooked the surge in gun crime in New South Wales (NSW) that existed throughout 2012 and 2013.

In August 2013–long after the National Firearms Agreement had been implemented–Breitbart News reported that gun crime was surging in NSW, and the Ballina Shire Advocate reported that “over 9,000 guns [had] been taken off NSW streets and 3352 people [had been] charged” during police operations in the previous 12 months alone.

She also overlooked the December 2014 Sydney hostage crisis in which two innocents and the gunman were killed. Ironically, that matches the death toll in Lafayette, where two innocents and the gunman died.

Wilson also overlooked one other thing: the corporate policies for Grand Theatres stipulate a ban on gun possession by law-abiding citizens. As Breitbart News previously reported,  the “Conduct Policy” for all Grand Theatre locations dictates that the “possession of firearms or weapons of any kind” are completely banned, and the ban applies regardless of whether the firearm or weapon is carried “openly or concealed, with or without a permit.”

Such a ban represents 100 percent gun control. What else does Wilson want?
