Hollywood actress Fran Drescher endorsed a call for a general labor strike in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, declaring that “Capitalism has become another word for Ruling Class Elite!”

Her words follow an Instagram post from pop star Britney Spear that called on people to learn to “feed each other, re-distribute wealth,” and “strike.” Socialists rushed to praise the pop diva, while the nickname “Comrade Britney” circulated on social media.

Fran Drescher, the former star of  the hit TV series The Nanny, tweeted Tuesday: “Capitalism has become another word for Ruling Class Elite!”

She added: “When profit is at the expense of all things of true value, we gotta problem.”

Drescher was endorsing a call for a general labor strike from a Bernie Sanders supporter, who tweeted that labor is being treated as a “sacrificial lamb” by employers who want them to return to work in the midst of the worldwide coronavirus crisis.

The actress’ anti-capitalist sentiments has earned her the nickname “Comrade Fran” on social media. Former New Yorker journalist Talia Lavin was one of many to use the communist term of endearment on Drescher.
