Anti-Israel, pro-Sharia Law leftist activist Linda Sarsour will deliver the commencement speech at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate School of Public Health on June 1.
CUNY is a public university that is paid for by taxpayer funds.
“I am delighted to confirm that Linda Sarsour will indeed speak at our June 1 commencement at the Apollo Theater,” Barbara Aaron, chief of staff to CUNY Graduate School of Public Health dean Ayman El-Mohandes, told The Daily Caller.
“She is someone who associates with radical Islamists; supports them,” New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) told local CBS affiliate in New York upon learning about the news. “She is someone who has said, clearly, she thinks throwing rocks at cars in Israel is a good thing.”
Sarsour, who serves as the executive director of the Arab American Association of New York (AAANY), was also one of the organizers of the anti-President Donald Trump Women’s March. Earlier this month, she said she was “honored and privileged” to share the stage at the anti-Israel Jewish Voices for Peace conference in Chicago, with convicted Palestinian terrorist Rasmea Odeh.
Odeh will soon face deportation for allegedly falsifying U.S. immigration papers.
In an interview with The Nation last month, Sarsour suggested feminism and Zionism are incompatible. “It just doesn’t make any sense for someone to say, ‘Is there room for people who support the state of Israel and do not criticize it in the movement?’ There can’t be in feminism. You either stand up for the rights of all women, including Palestinians, or none. There’s just no way around it.”
Her comments quickly drew criticism from female pro-Israel advocates:
Linda Sarsour couldn't be more wrong. I'm a proud Zionist and classical feminists. Her balant hypocrisy doesn't fly.https://t.co/59TqTKoI1w

Palestinian feminist/activist Linda Sarsour says you can't be a Zionist *and* a feminist. I disagree, here's why: https://t.co/by5lFooAlB

In a 2011 tweet that has since been deleted, Sarsour expressed a desire to see Islam critics Brigitte Gabriel and Ayaan Hirsi Ali lose “their vaginas” for opposition to Sharia aw.

Political activist and co-founder of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI) Pamela Geller also reacted to news that Sarsour will be CUNY’s keynote speaker:
Remember: the woman saying this is an open supporter of sharia. She claims that “Palestinian” women are being oppressed by Israel, but doesn’t have a word to say about the genuine oppression that Muslim women suffer because of sharia, which sanctions wife-beating, allows for polygamy, and opens the door to female genital mutilation and honor killing. That’s oppression. But Sarsour, as the new leader of the feminist movement, is never going to say a word about that.
Meanwhile, UC Berkeley recently banned conservative firebrand speaker Ann Coulter from delivering the commencement speech at the school, which is hailed as the historical home of the free speech movement. The university cited security threats as the reason for the cancellation.
Liberal comedian Bill Maher defended Coulter’s right to speak at the leftist campus during his Friday night show.
Coulter still plans to speak there.
