Obama: We Don't Know Who Used Chemical Weapons in Syria

Speaking at 10:45 AM EST on April 30, President Obama explained that the delay in responding to Syria’s alleged use of chemical weapons is due to the fact that no one possesses a clear “chain of custody” for the use of chemical weapons.

He claims that is what U.S. officials are working to ascertain right now.

Obama didn’t deny evidence that such weapons had been used but claimed, “We don’t know how they were used and when they were used and who used them. We don’t have a chain of custody.”

“I’ve got to make sure I’ve got the facts,” he added.

Appearing on Face the Nation on April 28, Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) provided a completely different take on the Syria situation: “We know where the order came from to use chemical weapons. We had another general defect in the last couple of days who has, again, validated where the order came from.”
