Report: IDF Intercept Shows Syrian Government Used Chemical Weapons

An IDF communications intercept shows that a “bombardment with poison gas missiles was made by Syrian government forces” last week.

Moreover, Israeli intelligence findings show “Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is responsible for the gas attack.”

Hotair.com reports that this information was quickly shared with “the US and Western allies,” and Focus.de says German Chancellor Angela Merkel responded to the news by calling for UN inspectors “already in Syria” to “gain access to the scene” of the chemical attack.

However, Merkel admits that the presence of Russia and China on the UN Security Council may take away any real chance allowing inspectors access to the site.

The German government is flying medicine for victims of chemical attacks into Syria while President Obama mulls the option of striking Syrian government targets.

In the meantime, Assad is counting on Russia to run interference for him and perhaps to even defuse the situation before the U.S. gets involved.
