Letter from Benghazi Victims' Relatives: What Did Speaker Boehner Know?

A letter from three relatives of the Benghazi attack victims raises the question of whether House Speaker John Boehner’s (R-OH) reluctance to form a “select committee” is because its findings may cast a bad light on him politically.

Specifically, it suggests he may have known about the Obama administration’s alleged gun-running “from Libya via Turkey, to Syrian rebels.”

As revealed in an excerpt from the letter, provided by Fox News, the family members of Benghazi victims press Boehner for an explanation: “Some analysts believe your inaction and passivity towards getting to the truth concerning Benghazi is because you were briefed on the intelligence and special operations in Libya.”

The letter goes on to assert that Boehner may “possess ‘guilty knowledge.'” It then compares Boehner’s inaction to the way previous House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) conveniently forgot about having been briefed on “enhanced interrogation techniques” when it was more politically expedient to lambaste former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for “torture.”

The relatives who signed the letter, including the mother of slain Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, ask: “Are you in the same position as your predecessor? Are you dodging a thorough, coordinated investigation of Benghazi because it will damage your political position as speaker?”
