At a Washington press conference on Tuesday held jointly withFrance’s president François Hollande, President Barack Obamacriticized businessmen who try to violate the sanctions against Iran.He was apparently referring to a delegation of 116 French businessmen, with representatives from major companies like Total, Lafarge, andPeugeot, who visited Tehran last week in hopes of getting a big chunkof business with Iran when sanctions are completely lifted.

According to President Obama:

Businesses may be exploring — are there somepossibilities to get in sooner rather than later if and when thereis an actual agreement to be had?

But I can tell you that they do so at their own peril rightnow. Because we will come down on them like a ton ofbricks.

Is this another “red line”? Does anyone believe anything PresidentObama says any more? Isn’t this just so much hot air?

Hollande didn’t seem too flustered. He said that he did not controlFrench corporations, though he said he had made clear sanctions on Iran would notbe dismantled until a final deal on Iran’s nuclear program had beenreached. Expatica France

Slaughter by Syria’s al-Assad and ISIL continues despite ‘truce’

During the “peace talks” in Geneva last week, Syria’s Bashar al-Assadregime killed some 1,900 people in one week, mostly with barrel bombs, which are barrels or canisters packed with explosives and metal, designed to flatten civilian neighborhoods and kill as many people aspossible. So far in February, some 2,500 deaths have been documented, making it likely to be one of the deadliest months so far in the Syrian war.

It’s somewhat laughable that the politicians and the media arecalling it a great victory that al-Assad has agreed to a temporarytruce and allowed 1,000-2,000 civilians to leave the wrecked city of Homs.Making up for that is just a few days work for the genocidal monsterpresident of Syria, and for his puppetmasters in Moscow.

Meanwhile, reports continue to surface, as they have for months, thatthe al-Assad regime and the ISIL (Islamic State in Iraq and theLevant) terrorists are either implicitly or explicitly cooperatingtogether as allies to kill as many “moderate” opponents of the regime,as well as the al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra. So we have two terrorists –group ISIL — as allies of convenience in a war to gain control of western andeastern Syria, respectively. It seems likely that the whole “peaceprocess” in Geneva is a big joke, and al-Assad is never going to agreeto anything. Al-Arabiya and Al-Jazeera and Daily Star (Lebanon)
