March 15 (UPI) — One Battle After Another was named the Best Picture of 2025 at the Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood Sunday night.
Paul Thomas Anderson took home the prizes for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay, while cast member Sean Penn won the Best Supporting Actor trophy, but was not in attendance to collect it.
The film also earned the first Oscar for Casting, as well as the prize for Film Editing.
Sinners won the honor for Best Actor — Michael B. Jordan — as well as Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler. Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman and woman of color to win the Oscar for Best Cinematography for filming it.
The movie also earned the accolade for Best Score.
Jessie Buckley was voted Best Actress for Hamnet and Weapons star Amy Madigan won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
KPop Demon Hunters was voted Best Animated Feature and “Golden,” the wildly popular anthem it spawned, won the trophy for Best Original Song.
This is the first time a KPop hit has won in this category.
Frankenstein scored the prizes for Best Costumes, Best Hair & Makeup, and Best Production Design.
Sentimental Value won for Best International Feature and Mr. Nobody Against Putin was named Best Documentary.
Conan O’Brien hosted the gala, which aired live from Hollywood.
