NEW YORK, Jan. 13 (UPI) — NBC anchor and journalist Ann Curry is leaving NBC after a long negotiation over her contract, with the parties citing unhappiness on both sides.
First reported by Page Six, Curry has been “unhappy” since she was unceremoniously bumped from Today to the news desk. Since then she has been “basically doing nothing.” NBC has also been frustrated, as the network has been paying her $12 million a year to do little work.
The news has been confirmed by USA Today and The Hollywood Reporter.
NBC was criticized for its handling of the dismissal of Curry from Today involving Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie.
Curry will reportedly start her own production company to provide reports and interviews to various outlets.
