April 13 (UPI) — Britney Spears is going to rehab.
The icon checked into a treatment center on her own volition, multiple media outlets reported over the weekend.
The move comes just over a month after her March 4 arrest in Ventura, Calif., when she was suspected of driving under the influence.
Spears’ blood alcohol content had been measured at a hospital, but the results of that test have not yet been shared.
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life,” representatives for the pop star said at the time.
Her court date had been set for May 4.
Recently, Spears’ Instagram posts have been a source of worry for her fans and loved ones.
“From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces,” wrote Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, in his memoir.
The former couple shares Sean Preston and Jayden James.
Spears released her own memoir, The Woman in Me, in 2023, just two years after her 13-year conservatorship ended.
