Feb. 4 (UPI) — Amazon MGM Studios announced casting for the film Goodbye Girl on Wednesday. Cole Sprouse and Kiernan Shipka will star.
Filming begins in New Orleans this week. Gulfstream Pictures produces with Amazon MGM Studios.
Shipka plays Jess, a professional heartbreaker. Sprouse plays a groom-to-be, whom the bride hired Jess to dump before the wedding.
In true rom-com fashion, Jess falls for the groom herself.
Danielle Hoover and David Monahan wrote the script, from a story by Hoover, Monahan and Jessica Elbaum. Oran Zegman directs.
There was a 1977 movie called The Goodbye Girl, written by Neil Simon and directed by Herbert Ross. It is about a single mother (Marsha Mason) living in a theater actor’s (Richard Dreyfuss) sublet.
