'Killing Eve,' 'The Americans' dominate 2018 TCA Awards nominations

June 19 (UPI) — BBC America’s Killing Eve and FX’s The Americans lead the pack among the nominees for the 2018 Television Critics Association Awards.

Killing Eve earned the most nominations with five including Individual Achievement in Drama for stars Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, Outstanding New Program, Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Program of the Year.

The Americans, which wrapped up in May after six seasons, follows right behind with four nominations including Individual Achievement in Drama for stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Program of the Year.

Competing against Killing Eve and The Americans for Program of the Year is Atlanta, The Good Place, The Handmaid’s Tale and This Is Us.

Darren Criss from The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story and Elisabeth Moss from the The Handmaid’s Tale are also up for Individual Achievement in Drama with Pamela Adlon (Better Things), Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Ted Danson (The Good Place), Donald Glover (Atlanta) and Bill Hader (Barry) competing for Individual Achievement in Comedy.

Outstanding Achievement in Drama will also be decided between The Crown, The Good Fight, The Handmaid’s Tale and This Is Us with Atlanta, Barry, GLOW, The Good Place, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and One Day at a Time battling it for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.

The 2018 TCA Awards will be hosted by BET late night star Robin Thede with the event set to take place on Aug. 4 in Beverly Hills. Awards for Career Achievement and Heritage will also be presented.

The Television Critics Association represents over 200 journalists who cover television in the United States and Canada.
