Feb. 5 (UPI) — A cow on the loose in Nebraska made its way to a high school tennis court, prompting police to impose a lockdown on the school.

The McCook Police Department said the cow was spotted Wednesday on the McCook High School tennis courts, causing the high school and junior high school to be locked down.

“This keeps students and staff in the building and keeps the cow out,” the department said in a Facebook post.

“Officers were able to herd the cow up Westridge to the fairgrounds. The owner was able to gain control of the cow with the help of MCC Rodeo Team members and the Fairgrounds staff. The cow then finished her trip to the sale barn,” the post said.

The lockdown orders were lifted at the end of the incident. Police said no injuries were reported.
