Oct. 28 (UPI) — A North Carolina man who stopped to get some cash to pay for a haircut ended up winning a $100,000 lottery prize during his brief visit to a convenience store.

Durham resident Oscar Galdamez Rosales told North Carolina Education Lottery officials there wasn’t much special about the first part of his Saturday.

“It was just a usual Saturday at first,” he said. “I had a haircut.”

Rosales discovered after his trim that he didn’t have any cash to pay the barber, so he popped over to the Lighthouse Food Mart on Holloway Street in Durham.

While at the store, he bought a $20 Ruby Red 7’s scratch-off ticket.

“Something just told me to buy that so I went for it,” Rosales said.

He paid his barber then went back to his truck to scratch off the ticket. Rosales uncovered a $100,000 prize.

“I was definitely feeling a lot of emotions,” he said.

Rosales said he is working on plans for his winnings.

“This will help me complete some goals that I have,” he said. “It’s definitely going to help.”
