March 6 (UPI) — Ryan Gosling surprised his wife Eva Mendes with a birthday serenade when he visited The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon Thursday.
The actor, 45, stopped by the show to promote the film Project Hail Mary ahead of its arrival in theaters March 20.
Gosling portrays a science teacher tasked with saving the world before the sun dies. His quest introduces him to an alien whom he eventually befriends.
Sandra Huller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung and Milana Vayntrub also star.
To celebrate the film, and Eva Mendes’ birthday, the Fallon audience was filled with teachers.
“It is Eva’s birthday today. She’s here. You have no idea how much she loves teachers,” Gosling said. “If I get her would you sing happy birthday to her?”
When Mendes appeared on the stage, a high school marching band performed in her honor.
The couple starred together in The Place Beyond the Pines and married in 2022.
