Semi rollover releases chickens onto Washington state road

June 26 (UPI) — The Washington State Patrol said troopers became chicken wranglers when a semi-rollover crash caused dozens of the birds to escape into the roadway.

Trooper Will Finn, public information officer for the WSP District 5, tweeted a video showing the chickens being rounded up on State Road 502 in Dollars Corner.

Finn said the truck was en route to Foster Farms in Kelso when it overturned while attempting a U-turn.

The spokesman said the truck had been carrying 5,000 chickens when it overturned and dozens of the birds escaped following the crash.

Troopers worked to round up the chickens, which were then collected by crews from Foster Farms.

Finn shared a bonus “nugget of info” from the scene — the primary investigator of the crash is named Trooper B.D. Chicks.
