65 dead, more than 100 injured in Chinese factory blast

KUNSHAN CITY, China, Aug. 2 (UPI) —

An explosion at a factory in east China’s Kunshan City killed 65 people and injured more than 100, government officials said.

The blast took place at around 7:37 a.m. local time Saturday morning at a wheel hub polishing factory in Jiangsu province, China’s state news agency Xinhua reported.

More than 200 workers were inside the building at the time of the explosion, which officials believe might have been caused by dust inside the workshop.

Most of those injured sustained burns.
