Water contract at Wright-Patterson given to American Water

Sept. 28 (UPI) — Water and wastewater services and systems are to be provided to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base by American Water Works Company Inc., the company announced on Thursday.

The contract, with the company’s Military Services Group, has an estimated worth of $490 million over a 50-year period but is subject to an annual price adjustment, the company said.

“American Water is extremely pleased to be awarded this contract, and we look forward to serving the military community at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base,” said Susan Story, president and chief executive officer of American Water. “We will now be serving 13 installations across the country and are committed to providing our servicemen and women and their families with safe, clean and reliable water and wastewater services for the next five decades and beyond.”

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is located northeast of Dayton, Ohio. It has more than 27,000 employees, including military, civilian and contractors. It covers more than 8,000 acres of land and provides operational support for more than 100 associate units on the base.

Under the contract, American Water will own, operate and maintain the base’s complete water and wastewater systems.
