As the IRS scandal continues to take shape and the massive overreach of one of the most powerful agencies in Big Government becomes even more apparent, it becomes frightening to think this same agency will soon be heavily involved in your personal healthcare situation.
Remember folks, as the United States Supreme Court said nearly a year ago, Obamacare is a tax and thus falls under the jurisdiction of the IRS. To enforce the full implantation of Obamacare, the IRS seeks to add 16,500 new agents, and the Congressional Budget Office projects the IRS will need $10 billion over the next ten years to handle this new responsibility. That is a lot of taxpayer money that will go to an agency that has abused its power.
Georgia Congressman Tom Price has introduced the Keep The IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013 (H.R. 2009). The recently introduced legislation already has 80 cosponsors and will no doubt continue to gain support in the House of Representatives. This simple piece of legislation will take power away from the IRS when it comes to Obamacare.
The IRS, through incompetence and potentially criminal behavior, has lost the right to be the lead government agency for enforcement of the government takeover of our health care system. In fact, just this week, the top government bureaucrat at the IRS who was charged with implementing Obamacare was put on administrative leave for accepting free food at a now infamous and wasteful 2010 conference.
Americans must be aware that they are are ceding their liberty to government more and more every day. We should not have to deal with the IRS when it comes to one of the most personal and intimate matters in our lives – healthcare. It has become abundantly clear that the IRS cannot be trusted. Under President Obama’s watch, the IRS has become extremely politicized for an agency that needs to be nonpartisan. That is why the Keep The IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013 must be taken up for a vote immediately on the House floor.
As with other good government initiatives, once passed in the House the Keep The IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013 will have a tough road in the United States Senate. Democrat Majority Leader Harry Reid will no doubt put many road blocks in the path of this legislation. The real wild cards in a Senate fight would be Democrat Senators Pryor, Landrieu, Hagan, and Begich. They all will have to choose whether to be on the side of the American taxpayer or the Nixonian-like IRS when it comes to their healthcare. Their constituents will no doubt be watching.
