Following a full day of debate, Texas lawmakers in the state house passed a bill, 98-49, that will ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The bill would also require that abortion clinics be held to the same basic health and safety standards as other ambulatory surgery centers.
The bill now heads to the state senate on Wednesday.
The last attempt to pass the bill in the senate was blocked by a filibuster by state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) and an unruly mob of abortion supporters who screamed and shouted to drown out the vote.
Davis told CNN that she will not filibuster the bill a second time, and said she believed the bill will ultimately pass and be signed into law by Gov. Rick Perry (R).
The unruly, mob-like nature of the crowds of abortion supporters has persisted since the night of Davis’ filibuster. Last week, as pro-life supporters sang the hymn, “Amazing Grace” in the capitol, abortion activists chanted, “Hail, Satan!”
Pro-abortion activists also exploited children by forcing them to hold up profane protest signs saying, “If I wanted the government in my womb, I’d f— a senator.”
This week, a pro-abortion activist had to be removed from a hearing after threatening lawmakers, and another read a poem to lawmakers that equated her vagina to a gun.
Some abortion supporters threatened lawmakers and their children with rape last week, and this week threats against pro-life public officials continued.
Most recently, LifeNews reports that some abortion activists shouted “F—the Church” during chants at the state capitol on Tuesday.
