Tea Party Patriots: Paul Teller Firing Act of War Against Conservatives

On Wednesday, the Tea Party Patriots said the firing of Paul Teller, the Executive Director of the House Republican Study Committee (RSC), was a declaration of war against conservatives by the Republican establishment.

Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin said that Teller (pictured), who was widely respected by movement conservatives in the fight against the GOP establishment, “was summarily fired today in a move that can only be perceived as a shot to conservatives and Tea Party Members who are not part of the establishment.”

New RSC Chairman Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) is an ally of House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH), who, along with other establishment Republicans, were fed up with what they believed were Teller’s attempts to undermine their moderate policy proposals and compromises.

“Paul is a conservative who works closely with outside groups, like ours,  in order to communicate to Members of Congress what is being said in the outside world, the rest of the country that they often times forget they are supposed to be Representing,” Martin said in a statement. “This is truly a line in the sand against those who want less government.”

Martin said that the Tea Party Patriots “will continue to defend those who the establishment attacks because we understand the attacks on our allies are attacks on us and our shared goals.”
