While opening “The Uninvited II: The National Security Action Summit” alternative to CPAC on Thursday, Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon paid tribute to the conservative grassroots, whom he said make up the backbone of the GOP and the country. If it embraced the “grassroots,” the GOP would be united around conservative values and not a watered down and moderate agenda, Bannon said.
He also said that when CPAC organizers talk about “unity,” what they are saying is that the grassroots need to “shut up and go home.” CPAC has been under fire for not having panels on pro-life issues and the dangers posed by radical Islamization, for instance.
Bannon said that unity will be achieved in terms agreeable to the conservative grassroots, and not the other way around.
“The Uninvited II” is a free event being held across the street from CPAC at the Westin Washington National Harbor. Breitbart News Network is hosting the second annual event, which will have panels on amnesty, the crisis in Ukraine, Benghazi, and the dangers of the Muslim Brotherhood’s agenda. Speakers will include Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rep. Steve King (R-IA), Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK), Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), and many more conservative leaders.
Bannon stated that he could not have imagined that what started as a few panels last year could evolve so quickly into such a blockbuster event. Frank Gaffney, who will emcee the event, pulled Bannon aside last year and urged him to make it into a bigger event, and Bannon said that Gaffney was instrumental in helping organize “The Uninvited II.” He also said that Sirius XM Patriot channel 125 will be airing all the speakers and panels.
