On April 4, a 45-year-old man allegedly forced his way into a Boyd County, Kentucky, home, “engaged in a physical altercation with the homeowner,” and was then shot to death by that same homeowner.

The man was a Sarasota, Florida, resident who appears to have picked the Boyd County home randomly.

According to Kentucky State Police, the incident occurred “just prior to 4 a.m. at 1520 Oneal Drive in Rush, KY.”

Police report that the alleged home invader–Gregory W. Coddington–“unlawfully forced entry into the residence” and was fatally shot by the homeowner, who was armed with a handgun. The homeowner appears to have fired the shots while allegedly under attack from Coddington.

Law enforcement reports finding no previous connection between Coddington and the Kentucky homeowner.
