After school on Friday, May 15, a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) bus dragged a seven-year-old Louisville, Kentucky girl down the street for at least 100 feet after her backpack got stuck in the door when she exited the bus.
KFOR obtained a video that showed school bus #0148 dragging young Ally Rednour for what neighbors said was the length of a football field down the residential street before the driver of a red Chevy Camaro, who saw what was happening and raced next to the bus with horn blaring to catch up with it, alerted the driver what was happening. Police said the distance was roughly 100 feet.
Wave 3 News reported that Rednour attends Wilkerson Elementary, where she is in the first grade. Her mother Amy is also a bus driver for JCPS, and was driving another bus at the time of the incident.
A fundraiser on GoFundMe has been created to help pay for Rednour’s treatment and recovery.
One neighbor, Yom Carman, witnessed the incident, and commented, “I just couldn’t believe he drug her from the corner down to here without knowing. I couldn’t believe it — bouncing all the way down the street. It was bad.”
Rednour was rushed to Kosair Childrens Hospital for treatment. She suffered road rash and is expected to recover from her injuries.
