Heilemann: Xenophobia Has ‘Been Ascendant In the Republican Party’

Bloomberg Politics Managing Editor and co-host of Bloomberg TV’s “With All Due Respect” John Heilemann argued, “Nationalism, populism, xenophobia” have “been ascendant in the Republican Party” on Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Hardball.”

Heilemann said, during a discussion about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, “Nationalism, populism, xenophobia, they all go hand in hand, and those forces have been ascendant in the Republican Party all this year. And this set of — what’s happening now in the world, is only going to, within a certain part of the Republican Party, only going to inflame those instincts.”
