The leader of the Muslim Students Association on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus is hailing President Barack Obama’s terrorism speech on Sunday evening that sought to differentiate Islamic faithful from the Islamic State.

“President Obama is telling people to not give into the fear,” said MSA president Hani Rustom, according to Channel3000. “That is when he said ‘That’s exactly what ISIS wants.’ I think he hit it right on the head, because ISIS wants that fear so that people have that anti-Muslim sentiment. That if we, as an American community unite against that sort of thing, I think it will go a long way.”

Rustom, who says she grew up in America and is “as American as any other student that’s here,” said it is disappointing for Muslim students to have their religion continually tied to terrorism.

Muslim students on the UW-Madison campus are condemning the actions of ISIS, says Rustom, according to Obama’s statement to the Muslim community in America.
