U. of Wisconsin Mandates Coronavirus Testing for Some Students

The University of Wisconsin, Madison, is requiring students residing in two campus residential buildings to undergo coronavirus testing. The mandate follows a spike in positive test results at the university, which places the university’s total positivity rate at 2.7 percent.

Report: UW Madison Newspaper Fires Student Who Criticized ‘Defund the Police’ Movement

The student newspaper at the University of Wisconsin-Madison reportedly fired a student this week after he submitted a column in which he pushed back against calls to “defund the police.” Student Tripp Grebe was swiftly removed from his role as a columnist at the paper after the Young America’s Foundation (YAF) questioned the university’s administration over the paper’s refusal to publish the column.

Graduate student CV Vitolo-Haddad, who is actually Sicilian, wrote in a blog post this week that she has pretended to be black for some time. Poll: 63% of Princeton Students Would Choose ‘Gap Year’ over Online Classes

A recent poll revealed that a majority of Princeton University students would take a “gap year” if Princeton’s campus did not reopen for the fall semester. A majority of college students polled earlier this spring said that the quality of their education dropped significantly when classes moved online in March at the outset of the Chinese virus pandemic.

U. of Wisconsin: Blaming Chinese Virus on China Is “Racist”

Administrators at the University of Wisconsin, Madison condemned a series of “anti-China” chalk messages that appeared this week. One chalk message referred to the “Chinese virus” while another blamed the ongoing pandemic on the Chinese government. The University’s chancellor referred to the chalking as “racist behavior.”
