More than 99 percent of the Syrian refugees admitted to the U.S. since the ISIS terrorist attacks in Paris — which killed 130 people — have been Muslim, just 0.4 percent have been Christian.
According to the State Department’s Refugee Processing Center, since the November 13, 2015 attack, the Obama administration has admitted two Syrian refugees identified as “Christian,” one identified as “Orthodox,” one identified as Greek Orthodox,” and one identified as “other religion.”
The remaining 868 Syrian refugees, admitted since the Paris terrorist attacks, are Muslim — with 18 identified as “Moslem,” 3 identified as “Moslem Shiite,” and 847 identified as “Moslem Suni.”
Ironically, last week Secretary of State John Kerry announced that the U.S. has determined ISIS is “responsible for genocide against groups in areas under its control including Yazidis, Christians and Shiite Muslims.”
Despite vows from Islamic extremists that they will infiltrate the refugee flow and warnings from top security officials about the government’s ability to vet Syrian refugees, the Obama administration has said it plans to continue to admit at least 10,000 Syrian refugees to the U.S. this fiscal year and maybe more.
Republicans have urged the administration to reconsider its plans and barring that option, pause and tighten up its refugee vetting process. Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have also been vocal about their concerns with admitting high numbers of refugees from terrorist hot spots.
Following the latest round of Islamic terrorist attacks on the West, this time in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday, Cruz reiterated his call for the U.S. to “immediately halt the president’s ill-advised plan to bring in tens of thousands of Syrian Muslim refugees.”
“Our vetting programs are woefully insufficient,” he told reporters in response to the attacks. “This administration has no means of preventing those refugees from being ISIS terrorists. ISIS stated its intention to infiltrate those terrorists, those refugees with terrorists come fog America to commit acts of jihad.”
Trump, in reaction to the terrorist attacks that killed more than 30 people, renewed his call for the U.S. to close its borders until it gets the situation under control.
“I would close up our borders to people until we figure out what is going on,” Trump said on Fox News Channel. “Look at Brussels, look at Paris, look at so many cities that were great cities. Paris is almost as bad. If you look at Paris – Paris is no longer the city of lights. Paris has got a lot of problems. And all you have to do is speak to the people who live there. You look at other places where this same thing has happened.”
