Al Franken at DNC: Trump, Limbaugh, and O’Reilly Are ‘Right Wing Megalomaniacs’

Sen. Al Franken attacked GOP nominee Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh, and Fox News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly at the Democratic National Convention on Monday.

“I’m Al Franken, Minnesota Senator and world renowned expert on right wing megalomaniacs: Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, and now, Donald Trump,” the former Saturday Night Live comedian began his remarks.

“I got my doctorate in right wing megalomania from Trump University,” he continued. “As a proud alumni of Trump University we may be ‘misunderestimating’ Donald Trump,” Franken added, applying the invented verb first used to make fun of former President George W. Bush.

“Sure he scammed a lot of people,” Franken continued in the already tiresome Trump University comedic riff. “The Trump University school of ripping people off is ranked second in the nation, right behind Bernie Madoff University,” he added, to tepid laughter from the audience.

“It’s also about learning directly from success experts like Scott Baio, Mike Tyson and a lifetime cardboard cutout” of Trump himself, Franken said, noting that “their bankruptcy program in particular is well known.”

“The pride of Trump University is the library…[where] all of Mr Trump’s best sellers are available for sale at a special rate for students which is ten percent higher than the regular retail price.”

Franken then demonstrated that he may have been away from the comedic circuit a little bit too long, as he urged Democrats to leave their children behind. “Many of you have jobs. Many of you have families. Ignore them,” the former comedian recommended. “Let me tell you something. Kids love it when they’re parents aren’t home,” he asserted.

“An eight year old kid knows how to use microwave ovens. Don’t worry about your kids. You have work to do. Get on those phones, knock on those doors. And tell them Al Franken sent you,” Franken concluded.

Franken advised the audience that “rather than voting for someone who’s never done anything for anyone other than himself,” they should vote for Hillary Clinton

“I’ve never met anyone smarter, tougher, or more ready to lead us forward,” Franken said of the former First Lady, Senator from New York, and Secretary of State.”I can’t wait to call her Madam President,” he added.

“I won my first race for the Senate by 312 votes,” Franken said, then urged Democrats to get out the vote. “Starting Friday morning, it’s all about hard work,” he stated.
