Billionaire Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates traveled to Trump Tower on Tuesday afternoon for a visit with President-elect Donald Trump.

Earlier in the day, Gates praised Trump on CNBC for his message to make America a better place economically, and compared him to former President John F. Kennedy.

“In the same way President Kennedy talked about the space mission and got the country behind that, I think whether it’s education or stopping epidemics, other health breakthroughs, finishing polio and in this energy space, there can be a very upbeat message that his administration is going to organize things, get rid of regulatory barriers, and have American leadership through innovation.”

Gates revealed that he spoke with the president-elect on the phone after the election, and appeared upbeat that he would pursue “the power of innovation.”

But Gates spent most of his interview promoting his new initiative to move the world into a “green” clean energy future.

“I think this administration likes a good deal,” Gates said, signaling his hope that Washington D.C. would increase the research and development spending for cheap sources of clean energy.
